SOILMEC JEC SALOON CHALLENGE
RESULTS BELOW, REPORT & MORE PICS TO FOLLOW!
PRACTICE / QUALIFYING
Zoe North had a brilliant session with Pole position just ahead of Pete Bell. Infact the top 8 drivers were all within 1 second of pole!
Chris Palmer with a little help from several others worked hard to get his car fit to race following a dramatic roll at Clearways during the PBJ practice. (See PBJ).
.
Pic 1 Derek Pearce out in the Mk11 saloon again. Pic 2 Robert Drewery on his way to 16th on the grid.
.

Pic 1 Andrew Jeffery closely followed by Trevor Baines. Pic 2 Greg Sutton in the nicely turned out "Big Cat"
.
Pic 1 Ken Angel side by side with a charging Zoe North at Clark Curve. Pic 2 Phillip Woods (new boy) slightly out of shape at Clearways
ChChris talking to a marshal, looking remarkably calm as his car is rolled back onto its wheels. Most were surprised to see Chris racing the car later in the day minus its windscreen and most of the other glass! This incident occurred during practice for the Powered by Jaguar race
Unfortunately Zoe North lost out to Pete Bell on the first lap and then lost another 4 places on lap 2! Pete however managed to hold on to 1st despite a lot of pressure from Simon Garrad. David Bye made up two places to 3rd but had a slight coming together with Simon Lewis on lap 5 and beached it!
On the 7th lap new driver Phillip Woods ended up in the gravel trap at Paddock Hill bend. The race was subsequently red flagged on lap 8. Sadly for Andrew Jeffery the two places he had gained on the final lap were not counted, and the results reverted to lap 7!
Chris Palmer finished a very respectable 7th despite a lack of windscreen etc. Certainly my driver of the day!
The top 6 finished within 3 seconds of each other!
Many thanks to Anderw Jeffery's son Mathew for most of the above details.
